Castelmuzio

Castelmuzio
Castelmuzio is the town I will call home for 3 months. Only 240 residents that dont speak much English..it will be like playing sherades!

About Me

My photo
Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada
I am a retired Canadian woman who enjoys travel, art, music, family and retired life. I have so many things I want to do and experience now that I have the freedom to do so. In July 2010 I retired after 30 years of public service. I moved away from the city and settled in beautiful Prince Edward County on Lake Ontario. In August 2011 I met the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, and we have been inseparable ever since. I am living the life I have always dreamed of and I am so grateful for all the blessings in my life.

Planning the adventure

March 31 2011.:
154 days till I leave home for Tuscany.  So much to do, so many things to learn about!  I need to start a list as things occur to me, as ideas seem to leave as quickly as they arrive.  At present I am:
  •  monitoring flight costs,
  • monitoring exchange rates between Canadian dollars and Euros
  • researching options for car rentals,
  •  trying to figure out how I will get my painting supplies to Tuscany without sacrificing room in the one suitcase I am allowed gto check in on the flight,
  • looking at options for travel insurance,
  • dertermining what is required for an international drivers liscence,
  • determining if I need a visa to visit Italy for 4 months, and
  • researching local artists near Castelmuzio who give painting lessons.
I know there is much more to do as well.  Does all this planning make the adventure less exciting?  Perhaps but it provides some sense of security as well.  I am so far outside my comfort zone that a tiny sense that I know what I am doing is much needed.
More later!
Ciao for now.

  1. Hi Sis. CAA NEO (north and east ontario) offers an International Drivers License. You need to apply for this BEFORE you leave Canada. I believe it is good for one year. Whatever you do...don't apply for a drivers license in the EU. They will send your Canadian drivers license back to Canada and your driving history will be deleted forever. This is a tough lesson I learned when living England. When I returned living in Ottawa, I had no driving record......nice! Be wise....get the CAA international license, and keep your Canadian drivers license tucked away safely, never to see the light of day in Italy. The CAA one is recognized everywhere. Cindy

  2. Hey Sis,
You did a great job creating your blog! I adore your paintings, if you want one turned into a Rhinestone T-shirt let me know, I started a blinging business.
